Welcome! I'm so excited about the new school year.

Now, a little about me....
This is my 12th year teaching art, and my 3rd year in Hutto ISD.
I graduated from Pflugerville High School.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Fine Art from Harding University and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Texas at Tyler.
I have been married to my husband Cameron for 12 years.
I love to paint, read, and play with my dog Blair.

Parents, make sure you friend me on Facebook. I will also use that as a tool for communicating.

This year in Art:
Theme - Kindness
Outline - 1st 9 weeks: Line, Shape, Space
               2nd 9 weeks: Color, Value
               3rd 9 weeks: Texture, Form
4th 9 weeks: Principles of Design
One of my major goals this year is to teach artistic behaviors and for students to truly understand what it means to be an artist.
Artistic Behaviors include - creating original art, developing skills, communicating through their work, taking risks, collaborating, solving problems, reflecting, having a global awareness, having a personal voice

Masterpiece of the Month -
Every month I try to recognize outstanding artwork by displaying it in what I call Masterpiece of the Month.  It's a bulletin board type display in the hallway near the art room.  Students whose artwork is chosen receive a golden paintbrush as an award with their name on it.
9 week art awards are also given to students who do great artwork as well have excellent behavior in the classroom.

Art Club -
I hope to have art club again this year.  It's just for 5th grade and it's once or twice or month for an hour after school.  I use this as an opportunity to do special fun projects.
